One and Other

There once was a time when two lovers writhed

Within each other's embrace

Therein they laughed and contentment there found them

Though they both knew it would end all too soon

The two had to part, this they understood

but together once more they would be again

And though their bodies would not soon meet once more

They still had each other by voice

Though each of them hurt, and pain wrought hell on their minds

They still held together, if only by lines.

That way they survived with what contact they could

Having lost the physical, Mentally and spiritually live on they would

Yet in a sudden dashing of this fragile existence

One called out again and again but could not find the other

The other was no longer willing to answer

And the one was lost without his once consoling lover

They each had to continue, to struggle through their lives' problems

But the one, he kept trying to contact the other,

his hopes undashed but his heart ever thrashed

Yet no luck did he have.

"Through at last!" he hoped as the ringing ceased prematurely

But to his dismay came a voice not that of his only

And it told him his love was not that night to be found

Another time perhaps he would be around.

Nights passing to day and a few hours later

He sought once again what he'd so long awaited

the voice of the one for whom his heart yearned

once again was not to be heard

Still a chance there was and it seemed quite the real one

For this time no story about how he was gone

Asleep perhaps but close enough still

His voice once more the one might yet hear

But the sound that came through.. so unlike his loved one

And when time stood still so strange it seemed

The other half of the one's soul was barely conscious

Not just in body, but also in spirit, and then he was gone once more.

More confused than before the one was lost to the world

Unto nights he travelled awaiting the dull

for the sun was improper, not right for his mind

His love would not have him, and to sleep himself he would cry.
