It was a chilly night and in their room slept Dr. Allen White and, his wife, Nancy White. In the early morning hours of their slumber, there came a pitched howl. Dr. White awoke, wiping the sleep from his eyes. He sat up in bed after hearing the howl. Then there was another howl and Dr. White realized the howling was coming from a room down the hall. Dr. White jumped up from bed, grabbed his robe, and dashed to the spare room.
Upon entering the room, he stopped in tracks staring at a wolf on the spare bed. After the surprise of seeing the strange visitor, he stepped over to him. He sits down next to the animal and starts to pet it to help calm him down.
After a couple of minutes with the wolf, Dr. White’s wife comes running into the room. She stopped right in front of the two on the bed with the look of confusion and concern in her eyes. Shaking her head to get the cobwebs out of her head she joins her husband on the bed; sitting on the other side of the animal. She wraps her arms around him and gives a heart felt hug.
When his wife was busy hugging him, Dr. White, also starts to give the animal a hug. At the same time though he moves his head down to the head of the wolf. When Dr. White’s mouth was at the ears of the wolf, he whispers softly into his ear. After a few moments of soothing words, POOF, the wolf disappears.
Dr. White and his wife sat there in shock with their empty arms still in the air. They both sat back up straight and were looking at each other, when they realized they were not alone. They both turned around and right behind both of them; their new son was sleeping in a fetal position. Mrs. White laid their new son, Jesse White, back in bed and covered him in his blanket. On their way out, they kissed Jesse a goodnight kiss on his forehead.
After closing the door to their son’s room, Nancy gives her husband a strange look. Dr White turns and sees in her eyes the untold question and with a little chuckle in his voice asked, “What?”
Nancy replied with a questionable tone, “Can you explain to me what that was all about?”
Allen stopped in his tracks; stared at nothing in thought and after a few moments said, “I have a theory to what happen, but I will have a better idea after I talk to Jesse.”
The confused and sleepy couple went back in their room for some needed sleep.
The next morning Jesse woke up to find that his morning wood was in need of attention or embarrassment would be the first thing for him at a new home. After finishing his morning chore, he noticed that it was still early and his new parents were still sleeping. He went back to his room and sat on his bed deep in thought in what his life was like before.
At this point in his thoughts, Jesse started to have tears in his eyes. Then he heard a knock on the door.
When Nancy opened the door she asked, “Are you awake and ready for breakfast?”
That is when she noticed that Jesse had tears in his eyes and went over to him. She sat down next to him and put him in her lap. She just held Jesse with all the love and support she could until his crying had stopped.
She looked Jesse in his eyes and with love in her voice asked, “Why were you crying honey?”
Jesse responded, “I was remembering my parents,” with sadness in his voice.
Nancy replied, “I know its hard honey to loss those that you love. You will never forget them. Just remember they are always in your heart and we are also here for you.”
After a few moments of comfort Nancy asked, “Honey, why don’t you clean up your face and join me downstairs for some breakfast?”
Jesse walked into the kitchen to find that his mother was already cooking up bacon and home fries. He sat down at the counter and his mother put a glass of orange juice in front of him.
Nancy asked, “How would you like your eggs honey?” and Jesse sat there in shock for never being asked before.
In time Jesse replied, “Scrambled.”
Nancy gave Jesse a peck on the cheek and went to cook up the eggs. Jesse just sat there watching his mother cooking and hoping he would be able to fit in to having a family again.
Allen walked into the kitchen and gave his wife a good morning kiss and Jesse gave a little smirk in seeing this. Allen got his morning coffee and then sat down next to Jesse. Nancy then put the plates, filled with food, in front of them and then went to get herself breakfast.
While everyone was eating breakfast Allen asked, “Can you tell us anything about your past that we may help you with?” to Jesse with a mouth full of food.
Jesse started chocking on his food after hearing the question and Nancy started to slap his back lightly to help him from chocking.
Jesse sat there in thought then spoke, “I don’t remember everything and what I do isn’t much.”
Jesse told his new parents some of the facts that he remembered this morning in his room. Jesse started to get tears in his eyes again.
Nancy spoke, “it’s okay honey, you don’t need to finish.”
Allen gave Jesse a hug and said, “We are here when ever you need us.”
Allen then told Jesse, “Son, I would like to draw some blood to have tested.”
With concern in his voice, Jesse asked, “Why?”
Allen replied, “As a doctor and now a father, we don’t know much about your past and we just want to make sure you are healthy.”
Allen wasn’t totally truthful with Jesse, because Dr. White was not a medical doctor. Dr. White was a doctor that works with DNA and genetics. Allen wanted the blood to test his theory from the events that happened the night before. Allen thought time was the one thing he had plenty of testing the blood and helping Jesse.
Allen just didn’t know how wrong he was and how his life was going to change.
Jesse has been staying with the White’s now for a week and has started to feel like he is part of the family. Jesse even started to open up and started making new friends with the other kids in the neighborhood. The one friend that he got really close to was named Elijah Masters.
Elijah and Jesse were the same age and spent a lot of time together. Jesse and Elijah did everything together and were coming very tight.
Elijah’s parents, Michelle and Matthew Masters, spent time with the Whites and getting to know each other. After some time a new friendship was made between the parents. The two families felt like one happy loving family.
It has been two months and spring was in the air. The boys were enjoying the nice cool afternoon in the backyard of Jesse’s house playing. Nancy was home watching the boys while Allen and the Masters where at work. Elijah came into the house to use the bathroom and get a drink of water.
At that same moment, five vehicles pulled up front of the house and all the men, dressed in black, stormed towards the house. The men came crashing through the house yelling “federal agents.” The men took custody of Nancy and Elijah. Both were in the kitchen at the time and were scared and in shock at the event that is happening. Nancy kept holding Elijah while yelling, “who are you and why you doing this?” at the men.
While in the backyard, Jesse was hearing all the commotion that was occurring in the house. At that moment, the men in black appeared and Jesse had the biggest fear of life again.
Jesse remembered what happened to his real parents and how his life has changed. The fear of seeing the men again frightened Jesse to the point that he couldn’t move. Then there was another flashback and the sound of another gunshot from in the house that made Jesse come back to the real world. At that moment, the statement that was drilled in his head from his real parents took over; he started to run towards the tree line.
When Jesse was running for the woods he could hear gunfire and saw the dirt fly into the air when the bullets hit the ground. As soon as getting to the edge of the backyard, POOF, Jesse was gone.
